Written by Rob Davies and commissioned by Surrey Brass to commemorate the famous aeroplane. The Concorde was first introduced on January 21, 1976, and was retired on October 24, 2003, making it 27 years old at the time of its retirement. It's now 23 years since it last flew, but it will fly again at our concert! Here's Droop Snoot (synthesised version). We have plenty of these to choose from. Here's the fanfare from our inaugural Concert 25 years ago, the Golden Jubilee Fanfare Contest 7.30 pm Saturday 25th May 2002. The winning entry was the "Golden Jubilee Fanfare" by John Hughes. It's become the Surrey Brass signature opening number for many of our concerts.
As it's our 25th Concert, we are planning to play perhaps the biggest and most epic fanfare of all time, the Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare by Richard Strauss. It requires such large forces we haven't recorded it yet, so here is someone else playing it so you can imagine what it will sound like in St. Martin's Church in Dorking.
